I've always been a fan since high school because it was something in walking distance of my friends house where we could go for a lot of food that was different from fast food and it was also pretty cheap since we were usually broke. Mixed up my order and when i got home and found out she had nerve to argue on the phone repeatedly that I was wrong and she was right. I order from this place at least once a week, and I can make 3 or 4 meals from one entree. The flavor of the food was not what one is used to for this kind of food. With a pregnant girlfriend, take out was the choice. The soup was also full of nice surprises and both chicken dishes were wonderful. Needless to say that all 3 were a hit. Plus, the shrimp fried rice had plenty of shrimp, and was good in size too. Yes, they are cheaper than other Chinese restaurants in town. The chinese food in Ahwatukee is all bland and worthless and I regret I decided to give Great Wok one more try today.
It had a great little kick to it, which you don't often find in hot and sour soups--so good job in that regard. Four months later and I still haven't set the apartment gate up with my phone number. No, Great Wok isn't on that level but damn is it good. Reviewed by : Erica S. Flavorful sauce and not pools of grease. I love totally recommend the crab ragoon.
It was very brothy, and not as dark as most hot and sour soups. I came home after work, giddy with the thought of a three-day weekend ahead, and realized the only fish I had in the house was a very unappealing frozen piece of tilapia. Reviewed by : Ainee B. The next time I didn't get to join, but my husband went with his son and they tried a different soup and the cashew chicken, as well as the honey chicken and shrimp again. I can't survive off of the wilted English cucumber chillin' in the veggie drawer, so I had to give in and order delivery I have the horrible tendency of not leaving the house once I get inside and realize how comfortable the couch is. I'm 3 miles away due north. Both of them had enough left over for another meal. . When I got there I returned the wrong meal, I waited for new meal then she would not reimburse me. The only thing that this place has going for them is their fast and friendly service. The big stuff , and it had to be either a vegetables or b seafood.
The vegetable fried rice is tastless, pale, undercooked and laced with some form of lettuce type leaves which I guess is the vegetable. If you like it, well. ! I suppose when thinking of my health, this is a great thing, but it just lacked in consistancy and the flavor was a bit odd. It's definitely a family run business, the loud arguing coming from the kitchen gave that away. By vol0412 December 21, 2012 Pass on this one I tried them when they first opened and was not impressed with the food so I gave them a second chance a few months later.
The portions are insane here and it's really worth it. I suggest the Tri Star Mongolian, it was to die for! They were slow cooking the food and they weren't too friendly. She argued with me more that I could only have one or other. Dead serious, this place is such a hidden jewel in the area, I will absolutely be back at least twice a month. The food is very good, wonton soup is excellent and the honey chicken and shrimp is great! I have died and gone to Chinese delivery heaven, y'all.
When the delivery driver brought me my food he was rude and unprofessional he also told me that if I did not tip him that I should pick up my food the next time. I did not want a repeat of my last Chinese order, so I reexamined Yelp and found Great Wok again. Probably won't be ordering from these folks again. The portions are insane here and it's really worth it. I could not believe she could be such a liar and have such poor training as to tell me she didn't care if I posted negative reviews on line or didn't return as a customer. The soup was full of interesting things like pork, and large veggies and a huge wonton.
Unless something important is going on, like a hamster fashion show or Chumbawamba's reunion tour. I don't know why anyone would stand in line for Panda Express when you can have great tasting real Chinese food! Last time I ordered there I got some wonton soup that I could barely eat half of. If you hate it, you're out 30 bucks. The honey chicken and shrimp were both great - lightly fried but not greasy, and the sauce had just enough spice to it. Maybe that is why there pickup times have gone from 30 minutes to 10. Chinese clearly fit these categories beautifully.
